Delete Your Account

You have the right to delete your Thinko account and all associated personal data at any time. This page explains what gets deleted, what is retained, and how to submit your request.

How to Delete Your Account

You can delete your Thinko account in two ways. Choose the option that works best for you.

Option 1 — Delete from within the App (Recommended)

The fastest way to delete your account instantly:

  1. Open Thinko and sign in to your account
  2. Tap the Settings tab (bottom navigation)
  3. Scroll down and tap Delete Account
  4. Read the subscription warning and confirm deletion
⚠️ Before deleting: If you have an active subscription, please cancel it first in your device's subscription settings (iOS: Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions · Android: Google Play → Subscriptions). Deleting your account does not automatically cancel your subscription and no refunds will be issued.

Option 2 — Email Request

If you cannot access the app, send us an email and we will process the deletion within 30 days:

Or manually email contact@aroralabs.org with the subject line "Delete my Thinko account" and include the email address linked to your account.

What Gets Deleted

Upon a verified deletion request, the following data associated with your account will be permanently removed:

  • Your name, email address, and profile photo (received via Google Sign-In or Sign In with Apple, or fetched via Gravatar for email/password accounts). Any Gravatar photo URL cached locally on your device is also cleared upon account deletion within the app.
  • All brain scores, game scores, and session history
  • Daily challenge participation records and streak data
  • Quiz performance history and accuracy records
  • Account preferences and personalisation settings
  • Firebase Authentication credentials
  • Subscription tier, purchase history, and transaction identifiers
  • Push notification registration tokens
✓ We do not sell your data. When you delete your account, no copies of your personal data are retained for commercial purposes.

What May Be Retained

Certain non-personal or legally required data may be retained after account deletion:

Aggregated Analytics

Anonymised, aggregated analytics data (e.g., overall app usage trends) that cannot be linked back to you individually may be retained for up to 26 months per Firebase Analytics default retention parameters.

Legal Retention Obligations

Where applicable law requires retention of certain records (e.g., transaction logs for financial compliance), we retain only the minimum data required for the minimum legally mandated period.

Backup Recovery Window

Deleted data may persist in encrypted backup snapshots for up to 90 days after the deletion date, after which it is fully purged. During this window, the data is not accessible and not used for any purpose.

Guest users are assigned an anonymous Firebase account. To delete it, email contact@aroralabs.org with the subject "Delete my Thinko guest account". Simply uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data from your device; the anonymous server record will be purged automatically after 180 days of inactivity.

Deletion Timeline

Request Received

We acknowledge your request within 3 business days of receipt and verify your identity.

Data Deleted

All personal data is deleted from our active systems within 30 calendar days of verification.

Backups Purged

Any residual copies in encrypted backups are fully purged within 90 days of the deletion date.
